TGU’s Banned Bookshelf

The Great Unlearn’s (TGU) Black History Month Office Hours centers around the State of Unlearning - in reaction to & commentary of harmful conversations surrounding Critical Race Theory, and recent statewide book bans in schools and libraries on works by QTBIPOC writers and creators. This banned & challenged bookshelf uplifts these seminal works of literature and art that are imperative for the growth and development of a healthy and equitable society.

Elizabeth’s BHM Staff Picks

Black History Month (BHM) is a time to tap into the guidance of ancestors - connecting with their wisdom reminds us of our roots, and all we can be grounded in. Reminding us to dream, reimagine, how to celebrate, and to honor. This season, the Elizabeth’s staff are choosing to focus on the roots of Blackness. The roots of all we have come to appreciate about arts, music, culture, science, and literature are rooted in the expression and expertise of Black people, culture, and community - click here to view our BHM Staff Picks.

To further celebrate and support the rich and dynamic history of Black Owned Bookshops, consider purchasing an Elizabeth’s gift set or gift card.
