Indie Bookstore Day!
Elizabeth's Bookshop & Writing Centre is thrilled to join independent bookstores nationwide in celebrating this special occasion! Marked on the last Saturday in April, this day honors the unique culture and community that indie bookstores create. It's a day when book lovers and booksellers across the country come together to celebrate the spaces that champion diverse voices and nurture literary communities.
How You Can Support Us
Join the celebration by supporting Elizabeth's Bookshop & Writing Centre instead of turning to the corporate giants:
Browse and purchase from our online storefront on bookshop.org for physical books and e-books – every purchase directly supports our independent bookstore rather than feeding into massive retail conglomerates
Explore audiobooks through our partnership with libro.fm – a thoughtful alternative to Am*zon's Audible that returns profits to local bookstores like ours
Share your favorite indie bookstore moments on social media and let others know why choosing independent matters
Spread the word about how your purchasing choices help preserve literary diversity and community spaces
When you choose us over Am*zon, you're not just buying a book – you're investing in a diverse literary ecosystem, supporting fair author compensation, and helping maintain the unique character of our community. Your purchase has real impact, creating ripples that extend far beyond a single transaction.

In the process of making the film Applegate and Singleton meet former professional women’s football players, lesbian tap dancers, feminist activists, pool sharks, bartenders and drag kings. They also explore the emerging crisis of loneliness and social isolation among elder lesbians in the context of the disappearance of lesbian centric community spaces.
